Changing the lives of children
with learning differences since 1979!
Landmark East School Building on Success 2021 Capital Campaign
Our Building on Success Capital Campaign is aiming to raise $3.5 million dollars to construct a new building to house a recreation space, a kitchen and cafeteria/performance centre - all of which will be available for community participation. In addition, classrooms in the Johnson Academic Centre will be updated, especially with technology ideal for students with learning differences. All of these improvements will enhance our students' experience in the short term and for years to come.
LEARNING
Learning Space Upgrades and Enhancements
Children with learning differences need specialized environments and equipment that allow them to reach their true potential. Their school environment should be safe, comfortable, and inspiring. Their success requires a setting built for the unique way they learn.
Upgrades will include:
-
Low glare lighting
-
Interactive SMART Boards
-
Flex furniture like standing desks and wobble stools
In addition, physical upgrades to our classrooms and labs will complement this enhanced learning environment.
GROWING
Recreation Centre
Daily physical activity provides countless benefits for not only physical health, but also mental health. Safely elevating the heart rate through exercise has been proven to help students lower their stress and anxiety and increase their overall readiness for learning.
Currently we lack a sufficient indoor recreational facility, especially for our elementary students, and are often impeded in implementing our physical activities during the winter.
This space would also benefit our boarding students during evenings and weekends and would be made available for public use. It would serve as another valuable connection to our community.
TOGETHER
Performance Centre & Dining Hall
This performance centre will double as a spacious much needed dining area and kitchen for our healthy eating program. Like the Recreation centre, this space would also be made available to the larger community.
Landmark East students are given the opportunity to pursue new interests and longstanding passions. Playing in a band, public speaking, participating in a science fair and in talent shows, and displaying art projects all contribute to the development of students’ self-confidence, social skills, and willingness to take on challenges.
