Alumnus, Charles Bachman Champions the 2015 Annual Appeal

This is a preview of our Annual Appeal going out this month via Canada Post and eblast. We are reaching out to approximately 1400 alumni, families and friends this year.

The letter features Alumnus, Charles Bachman, a very charming young man, who contacted the school after reading the Acorn Newsletter posted on Facebook.

Charles offered a lovely testimonial to the value of his experience at Landmark East and how grateful he is 25 years later as a happy, successful adult.  It was a real pleasure connecting with him and so pleased that he agreed to take on the role of ambassador this year!

Landmark East School will be ringing in the new year with a big a boost to their fundraising efforts. This week the Johnson Scholarship Foundation confirmed a Matching Grant Partnership with the school for 2015. The Foundation will match, dollar for dollar, all donations to the Landmark East Student Bursary Fund up to a maximum $50,000.

The Johnson Scholarship Foundation and Landmark East School have a long history of working together to help young people with learning differences reach their full potential. Over the course of 13 years, the Foundation has invested in excess of $1.65 million in bursary funding and spearheaded a campaign to establish the school’s endowment fund.

The new matching opportunity will be promoted as an added incentive to inspire giving from long-time supporters and attract new donors in 2015.

Wolfville Lions Host Successful Fundraiser for Landmark East

Wolfville Lions support Landmark East

The Wolfville Lions Club made a special gift of $2000 to the Landmark East Student Bursary Fund this week. The donation represents proceeds from a community dinner in support of the school on October 24th. The event was a huge volunteer effort with the Lions members spearheading the bulk of ticket sales, delivering take-out meals and orchestrating supper service to a sold-out crowd. The Landmark East Parent Committee and a team of student volunteers assisted with a gift basket raffle, pre-sales of dinner tickets, table service and clean up.

Left to Right are: Landmark East parents Christine Kroker and Debbie Tucker, Lions Marlene Vandertoorn (President), Butch Messom, Hollis Lake and Don McBay. In front are Landmark East students Ben Kroker and Jacob Wadden.

PRE-REGISTRATION starts tomorrow!

A gentle reminder that you can pre-register for the Walkathon starting tomorrow (Sept 19) or any day next week.

Simply drop off your sponsor form and dollars collected at the school and we’ll take it from there.

See Mandy or Janet in the main office, or Rose in the Development Office -206.

Pre-registration helps us avoid long line-ups on the day of the event.  The first hour is a time for socializing, all kinds of picture-taking and rallying the troops before the walk.

The Walkathon is 1:00 – 4:00  pm on Sunday September 28.
Just a little over a week to go now!!

Many thanks!
