The focus of college and university counselling is to guide students through the process and expose them to the possibilities that exist for them after graduation. The majority of our graduates will pursue some kind of post-secondary education, while the remainder chooses to work or have a gap year. 

In every case, each student goes through the process to sort out their individual needs and priorities.  By the conclusion of their graduating year, each student has spent a considerable amount of time planning the next step.

Graduating students at Landmark East work with our Guidance Counsellor, Jeannette MacKeen, and their Academic Advisor/Educational Consultant when searching for the right college and university placement.  In the process of improving academic skills, students also learn during their time at Landmark East to be a strong self-advocate. 

When considering a particular post-secondary institution, students should ask:

• What support services are available?
• Does the institution have a specific center for students with learning disabilities?
• What scholarships are available?
• What is the size of the institution?
• What areas of study are available?
• What is the teacher-student ratio?
• Where is the institution located?
• Are both part-time and full-time studies available?
• What are the tuition costs and residence costs?
• What are the entry and graduation requirements?
