For those students who require medical attention, the town of Wolfville is fortunate to have the Eastern Kings Memorial Community Health Centre and the Mud Creek Medical Co-op. The Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville is less than ten minutes from the school and provides emergency care to students as needed.
Occasionally, students may require medical appointments with specialists. It is expected that parents of day students within a reasonable driving distance make the appropriate transportation arrangements and accompany them to these appointments. For the benefit of our boarding students, transportation is arranged through a local car service and parents are billed for this expense.
Parents must inform Evelyne Moore, Medical Services Coordinator, by email about the following:
- if a student is currently taking medication or at any time is prescribed a medication
- if medication is to be discontinued, changed or initiated
- if medication needs to be administered during school hours
- if medication is to be sent home on weekends or holidays
Students are not permitted to have any prescription or non-prescription drugs in their possession. Faculty and staff administer all medications to students.
It is important that parents provide us with current health plan numbers and expiry dates or information on health coverage plans so that we may keep our records updated in the case of an emergency.
